Implications of a Low Interest Rate Environment

The month of May defied the weight of investor apathy and continued its positive run over what is normally a seasonally weaker period, bolstered by another rate cut and improving US economic
stats. Since then the market has traded in fits and starts. While volatility has yet to be fully contained, Morgans think the fundamentals in place for 2016 will support the equity market.

The ASX 200 finished up another 2% led by the interest rate sensitive Utilities (2%), Financials (4%) and Telecoms (5%) as investors once again resumed their chase for yield.
